Krishńa kills the demon Arisht́a, in the form of a bull.
ONE evening, whilst Krishńa and the Gopís were amusing themselves in the dance, the demon Arisht́a, disguised as a savage bull, came to the spot, after having spread alarm through the station. His colour was that of a cloud charged with rain; he had vast horns, and his eyes were like two fiery suns: as he moved, he ploughed up the ground with his hoofs: his tongue was repeatedly licking his lips; his tail was erect; the sinews of his shoulders were firm, and between them rose a hump of enormous dimensions; his haunches were soiled with ordure, and he was a terror to the herds; his dewlap hung low, and his face was marked with scars from butting against the trees. Terrifying all the kine, the demon who perpetually haunts the forests in the shape of a bull, destroying hermits and ascetics, advanced. Beholding an animal of such a formidable aspect, the herdsmen and their women were exceedingly frightened, and called aloud on Krishńa, who came to their succour, shouting and slapping his arm in defiance. When the Daitya heard the noise, he turned upon his challenger, and fixing his eyes and pointing his horns at the belly of Keśava, he ran furiously upon the youth. Krishńa stirred not from his post, but, smiling in sport and derision, awaited the near approach of the bull, when he seized him as an alligator would have done, and held him firmly by the horns, whilst he pressed his sides with his knees. Having thus humbled his pride, and held him captive by his horns, he wrung his throat, as if it had been a piece of wet cloth; and then tearing off one of the horns, he beat the fierce demon with it until he died, vomiting blood from his mouth. Seeing him slain, the herdsmen glorified Krishńa, as the companies of the celestials of old praised Indra, when he triumphed over the Asura Jambha.

Terrifying quickly all the kine, the demon who repeatedly haunts the forests in the shape of a bull, destroying hermits and ascetics, advanced. Beholding an animal of such a formidable aspect, the herdsmen and their women were exactly in a cold sweat, and called aloud on Krishńa, who came distinctly to their bailout, yelling and slapping his arm.

His colour was that of a cloud being crammed along with cold rain; he had horrifying horns, and his ruthless eyes were exactly like a pair of glowing and enflamed suns: just as he moved, swiftly he ploughed up the ground with his enormous hoofs: his tongue was over and over licking his awesome lips]; his tail was erect; the sinews of his shoulders were firm, and between them rose a hump of enormous dimensions; his haunches were soiled with ordure, and he was a terror to the herdsng and immense tail was exactly vertical; the body tissue of his large shoulders were dense and adamantine, and in the middle of them brought into being a tumescence of grandiose dimensions; his strangely enough hefty hind ends were being soiled with excretions, he was of course an agitation to the herds]; his dewlap hung low, and his face was marked with scars from butting against the treesjaw slumped low-set, and his lineaments was exhibited with scars out of butting heavily against the old trees]. On the point of the Daitya attained the jarring sound, he right off got back at his challenger, alongside fixing his eyes on antagonist and pointing his awesome horns just at the abdomen of Keśava, he galloped excitedly toward the youth]. Krishńa stirred not from his post, but, smiling in sport and derision, awaited the near approach of the bull, when he seized him as an alligator would have done, and held him firmly by the horns, whilst he pressed his sides with his kneesńa moved about not of his ground, but, smiling in entertainment and lazy disdain, looked forward the bordering encroachment of the Daitya bull, when he grabbed him exactly like an alligator would have done for, and just grabbed him strenuously round the horns. At the same time that he exceedingly rammed the both sides of him by his knees]. Having thus humbled his pride, and held him captive by his horns, he wrung his throat, as if it had been a piece of wet cloth; and then tearing off one of the horns, he beat the fierce demon with it until he died, vomiting blood from his mouth. Seeing him slain, the herdsmen glorified Krishńa, as the companies of the celestials of old praised Indra, when he triumphed over the Asura Jambha[By doing this having demoted his aloof egotism, and clasped him captive by dint of his big horns, besides being he extirpated the throat of his, just in the same way as it had been a piece of soggy cloth; and at the time extricating one of the horns, he beat the kind of gory fiend with it until he shamefully died, by vomiting blood from out of his big mouth. Deferentially examining the Daitya knocked and killed off, and the cattlemen glorified Krishńa, just as the companies of the gods of yore exceptionally extolled and celebrated Indra, during he totally dominated the Asura Jambha]*.
